The Youthing Movement – What is Your Real Age?
I remember the day I was consulting with a young mother who was suffering from many health challenges. She told me she looked like she was 89, even though she was in her thirties. She is so natural – she picked her “biological age” (BA) right.
The inner workings of the body are rarely something we think about when we are engaged in the “daily dash”; Skip meals, skip sleep, stress over deadlines/finances/family, grab coffee, coke, candy (or cigarettes). Force yourself to keep moving when you’re told it can’t, and you’ve added another day to your BA.
Mass consciousness is about the stages of life, from birth to old age, with very little thought about health. Enter the baby boomers, the sixty-plus crowd with a different agenda, who are likely to slow down the aging process. Science calls it the longevity factor, and it keeps researchers busy finding ways to extend life indefinitely.
Immortality – This may smack of science fiction now, but probably not in another decade or two. In their book, Fantastic Voyage, Ray Kurzweil, a futurist, and Terry Grossman, a physician, share their determination to “live long enough to live forever.” Their book has been heavily researched, showing that immortality is within reach, perhaps as close as two decades from now.1
Where will you be in twenty years? Do you lead an active life? Or does the wear and tear of “life” leave you with a worn heart and joints? Is Alzheimer’s Claiming Your Mind or Cancerizing Your Body? In the past, the biochemistry of aging was cut and dried – aging happens.
The body’s ability to maintain health declines as the 75 trillion cells produce less and less energy, whether through things we have no control over, such as a toxic environment or the stress and trauma of daily events. But there are also life-style choices that take their toll. A weakened body easily succumbs to disease – and death.
Chronological age, our years on the planet, really has little to do with how we look or feel. Feminist, Gloria Steinem, when she turned forty, a reporter told her she “didn’t look forty.” She turned back and said, “This is like forty!” She has work to do. Again in the fifties and sixties she made sure we knew her real age. Then, at seventy, she never missed a beat in her campaign for women’s rights. Look around. People who are still active in their seventies, eighties and nineties are not only continuing to make a difference on the planet, but looking great while doing it. Ask them how old they “seem” and they’ll give you somewhere between thirty and forty; Their biological age or internal functioning is that of a very young person. It starts with a strong constitution. Rarely are the sick anxious to move their bodies and minds. They are rarely seen watching television. They water ski, hike, write books, get degrees, start businesses. Their antics are in the news. My all-time favorite collection, what does age have to do with it? 2
It’s never too late to start de-aging our bodies, or to use the updated term “youth.” How far can we go? Not long ago we believed that the “prime” was eighteen but recently we’ve noticed healthy people testing at “sixteen”, no matter what their chronological age. Most amazing!
Tips for biological de-aging
There are hundreds of thousands of people today who are desperately trying to regain their youth through extreme means such as liposuction, botox treatments, cosmetic surgery and stomach stapling. 1.Purpose – Consider discontinuation of “Senior” classification. Watch your thoughts, attitudes, actions and even clothes!
2. Nutrition – Choose “real” food over “fake”. Natural foods contain high frequencies necessary for cellular repair/regeneration.
o You are what you eat.
o Keep the body alkaline by limiting acidic animal products, which are not only difficult to digest but are hard on the human system because they leave an acid residue.
o An average-sized person needs two quarts of “free” (ie, unflavored) water daily to rehydrate cells for minimal wrinkles and optimal brain function.
o Eating quality food not only provides good nutrition but also helps you feel satisfied after a meal. Overeating and snacking are no longer necessary as your body’s nutritional needs are met. By the way, calorie conscious people can add years to their lives.
3. Exercise stimulates the lymphatic system to bring oxygen/nutrients to the tissues and also deal with toxins and microbes. Also great for skin and heart, limber joints and muscle tone.
Brain exercises are a must!
4. Keep working in some capacity – volunteer and be socially active if needed! TV is a brain deactivator. Don’t fall into that trap.
5. Good Sleep/Relaxation – Stressed bodies accelerate aging.
6. Cell regeneration through cleansing/detoxification – BIG!
